VIDEO: Doctor Who Season 2012 Teaser Trailer

BBC AMERICA, mind you, has whipped up this trailer for the upcoming season of Doctor Who, to premiere later this year on the station.  So, if you haven’t seen the season yet and don’t want to be spoiled by anything, then don’t watch!  It is a trailer, so there will be some spoiler images.

Jenna-Louise Coleman To Be New Companion After Pond

Now that Amy Pond and Rory are going to be gone, who’s the Doctor going to have as his companion?  Well, it was just announced that 25 year-old Jenna-Louise Coleman will take over.  She may be well remembered in the British TV series, Emmerdale, which she was in for 4 years, playing Jasmine Thomas.  Or maybe you’ve seen her short stint in Waterloo Road as Lindsey James.  She was also in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger.

This is what BBC America has to say about her:

Well luckily for us, she’s something of a veteran of British TV already, having made a name for herself in Emmerdale, one of Britain’s biggest soaps. During her stint, she was nominated in the National Television Awards, TV Choice Awards and British Soap Awards.

So, apparently, she should be able to handle being on the most popular show in British television.

The Guardian gave this bit about her anticipated appearance:

Coleman, 25, who played lesbian Jasmine Thomas in the soap, will make her first appearance in the Doctor Who 2012 Christmas special.

However, Doctor Who executive producer and showrunner Steven Moffat, who delights in keeping viewers and journalists guessing, declined to reveal what Coleman’s character would be called.

Coleman is reported to have impressed TV bosses in screen tests with Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

As Lindsey James in Waterloo Road

One Doctor Who fan texted me this:

She is young but I trust Steven Moffat completely.  He has never let the fandom down.

Probably the same can be said for Jenna-Louise, right?  Let’s hope!

Karen Gillan as Amy Pond

So, what’s next for the exiting Amy Pond?

After what will certainly be a heartbreaking departure from the show, according to IMDB, she’ll be seen in a TV movie called We’ll Take Manhattan.  We wish her well in her future endeavors outside of the Whoverse, along with co-star Arthur Darvill.  I know many Whovians will miss both of them.
